“Caring for our health is a way of showing gratitude to our Creator.” ~Carolyn Thomas

I have been spending a lot of time this month studying and learning about medicinal plants and how to set up a home apothecary. As my husband has been prescribed more pharmaceuticals for hypertension, among other things, all with a variety of unintended side effects, I have become more committed than ever to finding some effective alternative treatments in which I can control the ingredients and measure efficacy for myself. As we plan for our new TN garden, I am incorporating the herbs needed that I can grow for myself, organically.

While reading an article in my Homestead Living Magazine about building a home apothecary, I ran across the quote above: “Caring for our health is a way of showing gratitude to our Creator.” It pierced my heart. THAT is why it is so important to me to take care of our health- the whole family’s- to thank God for our very existence and everything in it. I “knew” it at a gut-level, but had never succeeded in putting it into words. Gratitude to our Creator. Thank you, Father God, for everything, and please, please teach me, show me, help me to take care of all of the many blessings you have given us, but most especially our very being: our bodies, minds, and souls. Amen.
