Yes, I know EVERY year is a new start, but this one is different. Yes, every year is different, but this year is “special,” the first special year I have had in a very long time. I have not set goals, dreamed, or made plans for the new year in the past 2 years. I was so deep in the desert wilderness of my life that it didn’t seem necessary. It felt like all it would do is bring feelings of disappointment and failure, something I was already living with every day.
But everything FINALLY changed in 2024. God has brought us out of the wilderness, both figuratively and literally! He has moved and transplanted us in the beautiful state of Tennessee to start our lives, marriage, livelihoods, and ministry over- all according to His purpose. God is SO good! I feel like I have finally found my “home” here on this planet- not my “forever” home- that is still coming!- but my earthly home, and it is a precious, good one. We have a sweet, circa-1939 cottage on ¾ acre, with plenty of room for a large garden and small orchard, complete with a beautiful Himalayan (Miss Kitty), our precious BellaRoo, and a new Christmas puppy, Charli! The kids are close by- less than 1/4 mile away- with the grand-dogs and grand-ducks that we can visit often. In the 7 months that we have been in TN, I have experienced more joy and contentment than in the past 8 years altogether.
So, now I dare to set some goals, to dream and plan for the new year ahead. My primary goals for MiraBella Holistic Homestead are as follows:
- Develop a full class offering, online and in-person, that reflects the new Holistic Homesteading focus.
- Scale up my Food preparation and preservation skills.
- Establish a large garden and a small orchard.
- Renovate and remodel downstairs of the cottage home.
